Pulp sludge is a solid waste generated during the wastewater treatment process in paper mills, which is a mixture of residual pulp fibers, inorganic fillers, and small amounts of impurities separated from papermaking wastewater. The moisture content of wet pulp sludge is usually as high as 75%-90%, which is easy to breed bacteria, emit odor, and occupy a large amount of land for stacking, which will cause environmental pollution if not handled properly. At the same time, the high moisture content also increases the cost of transportation and disposal. At present, the most effective treatment method is to use a pulp sludge dryer to reduce the moisture content of pulp sludge to 10%-15%, turning wet and sticky pulp sludge into dry and loose finished products. The dried pulp sludge can be used as biomass fuel, organic fertilizer raw material or papermaking filler, realizing resource recycling.

Process Flow of Pulp Sludge Dryer

The "three-cylinder multi-circulation" pulp sludge dryer independently developed by Zhengzhou Dingli is improved for the characteristics of high viscosity, easy agglomeration and high moisture content of pulp sludge. Pulp sludge contains a lot of fiber components, and the high drying temperature will damage the fiber structure, reduce the reuse value; too low temperature will lead to low drying efficiency and cannot meet the treatment demand.

This equipment adopts the "segmented directional drying technology", dividing the whole drying process into three stages: pre-drying, deep drying and final drying. According to the moisture change and material state of pulp sludge in different stages, it independently adjusts the temperature, air volume and wind speed:

1.In the pre-drying stage, use low-temperature hot air to evaporate the surface free water of the sludge and reduce the viscosity

2.In the deep drying stage, increase the air flow appropriately to evaporate the bound water inside the sludge

3.In the final drying stage, use stable low-temperature air to control the final moisture content of the sludge

The water vapor generated in each stage will be discharged in time, which avoids the phenomenon of sludge sticking to the wall and agglomeration, and improves the drying efficiency. At the same time, the final moisture content of the dried pulp sludge can be accurately controlled according to the customer's reuse needs.
