After startup, the equipment first enters the feeding stage. Damp wood chips are evenly fed into the dryer drum via a conveyor device. The drum is typically installed at a certain angle and rotates slowly. This design allows the wood chips to be continuously conveyed forward along the inclined direction as the drum rotates, avoiding local accumulation and ensuring that each piece of material receives sufficient heat.
Heat supply is the core of the drying process. Clean hot air generated by the hot air furnace enters the drum in a specific manner, ensuring full contact with the internal wood chips. Common contact methods include co-current and counter-current flow. Regardless of the method used, the core purpose is to promote strong heat exchange between the hot air and the wood chips—the hot air transfers heat to the wood chips, gradually raising the internal moisture to its boiling point and converting it into water vapor.
Driven by both the rotation of the drum and the action of hot air, water vapor rapidly separates from the dried wood chips and enters the exhaust gas treatment system along with the waste gas. This system purifies the exhaust gas, preventing the direct emission of dust and water vapor, thus meeting environmental protection requirements and recovering some usable resources.
When the wood chips reach the end of the drum, the moisture content has been reduced to a preset standard, and they are finally discharged through the outlet. Throughout the process, the lifting plate structure inside the drum also plays a crucial role: it continuously lifts and scatters the wood chips, increasing the contact area between the wood chips and the hot air, further improving drying efficiency and uniformity, and ensuring consistent dryness of the output wood chips.
