Slag dryer is a kind of equipment specially used for drying various slag materials. It is widely used in metallurgy, building materials, chemical industry and other industries. It can dry slag materials with high water content to the required water content standard for subsequent processing, transportation and utilization.

Slag dryer is widely used:

Slag: such as blast furnace slag of steel plant, copper slag, lead-zinc slag, etc. These slags will contain a lot of water during wet beneficiation or smelting, and need to be dried before they can be further used in cement production, road construction, brick making and other fields.

Calcium carbide slag: Calcium carbide slag is the waste slag produced in the process of producing chemical products such as polyvinyl chloride by calcium carbide method. It has high water content and is alkaline. After drying, it can be used to produce cement, lime and other building materials.

Limestone: Limestone is an important raw material in cement production, glass manufacturing and other industries. In some cases, the mined limestone contains a certain amount of water and needs to be dried to meet the production process requirements. Slag dryer can effectively dry it.

Clay: Clay is one of the main raw materials in the ceramic, brick and tile industries. Wet clay is not conducive to processing and molding. By drying it with a slag dryer, its water content can be adjusted to improve the plasticity and molding properties of the clay.

River sand: River sand is a commonly used aggregate in the construction industry, but natural river sand usually contains a certain amount of water. After being dried with a slag dryer, it can be used in concrete production, dry-mixed mortar and other fields to improve the quality of building materials.

Quartz sand: Quartz sand is widely used in glass manufacturing, casting, electronics and other industries. After drying, wet quartz sand can meet the strict requirements of different industries for its water content and improve product quality.

Water slag: Water slag is a by-product produced during the blast furnace ironmaking process, mainly used to produce cement and concrete admixtures. The slag dryer can remove the moisture in the water slag so that it can be better used in related fields.

Working principle of slag dryer

Heating method: Slag dryers usually use a variety of heating methods, the most common of which are coal-fired hot air furnaces, oil-fired hot air furnaces, gas-fired hot air furnaces, electric heating, etc. The high-temperature hot air flow generated by the hot air furnace enters the cylinder of the dryer, providing the required heat for material drying.

Material conveying and tumbling: The material is fed into the feed end of the slag dryer through conveying equipment such as belt conveyors and bucket elevators. Various types of lifting plates are installed on the inner wall of the cylinder. As the cylinder rotates, the lifting plates continuously lift and scatter the material, so that the material forms a uniform material curtain in the cylinder, increasing the contact area between the material and the hot air flow and improving the heat exchange efficiency.

Drying process: Generally speaking, the cylinder of the slag dryer is divided into multiple layers. The material first directly contacts the high-temperature hot air flow in the inner layer for preliminary drying. Then it enters the middle layer, which adopts the countercurrent drying method. The material moves in the middle layer in a two-step forward and one-step backward manner, fully absorbing the heat emitted by the inner drum and the heat of the middle drum, and further reducing the moisture content of the material. Finally, the material falls into the outer layer and moves in a rectangular multi-circuit manner in the outer drum. During this process, the dried material moves quickly out of the drum under the action of hot air, while the wet material that has not reached the drying effect continues to be fully dried in the rectangular copying plate due to its own weight until the drying requirements are met.

Waste gas treatment: After the heat carrier (hot air flow) passes through the dryer equipment, it will carry a large amount of moisture and dust. It is necessary to use cyclone dust collectors, bag dust collectors and other dust removal equipment to capture the materials carried in the gas. The purified waste gas is then discharged into the atmosphere through the induced draft fan to reduce pollution to the environment.
